Hinckley Medical’s OneWeight aims to assist EMS professionals in reducing “door-to-needle” time in critical situations.

Tissue-type plasminogen activator (tPA) is a time and weight sensitive medication that professionals recommend administering to acute ischemic stroke patients within 60 minutes from the stroke onset. According to a study in the article by Gregg C. Fonarow et. al., only 33% of acute ischemic stroke patients receive the care they need within the allotted time. Given this information, an initiative by the American Heart Association, American Stroke Association, and other organizations attempt to decrease “door-to-needle” time for at least 50% of these stroke patients.

Our PWS-100 Series device aims to reduce the “door-to-needle” time by supplying EMS professionals with an accurate patient weight in a prehospital setting, thus eliminating the weighing process in the hospital. Professionals equipped with the knowledge of a patient’s weight before reaching the hospital allow for faster administration of tPA and faster care for the stroke patient.
